Cyprus diary. Dmitry Maximov — about the seminar in Nicosia. Day 4

A FIAS International Seminar for Sambo Coaches is being held from December 16 to 21 in Nicosia, Cyprus. Coaches with special training and experience in Sambo have been invited to attend the seminar. FIAS Sports Director Dmitry Maximov is keeping a seminar diary for our website.

Day 4

The fourth day of the seminar began with a presentation on the theme of "Rules for Judging in Sambo". The main emphasis was on the rules for evaluating technical actions and the requirements for participants' sports uniforms. The presentation was followed by an exam (theoretical part), where knowledge of Sambo terminology in English was tested. As a result, three of the seven who took the test were not up to the task. Then the participants went on to the evening part and the practical part of the exam.

Everyone was more confident in the practical part, but some of the demonstrations were not very successful. Since the result is determined from the combined practical and theoretical parts, four people received level 1 trainer certificates:

1. Vaso Constantinou

2. Gheorghe Odiseos

3. Eduard Kalika

4. Christinos Stavridis

Of course there were disappointments and resentments, but I can assure you that the FIAS experts made every effort to ensure that the seminar participants were able to pass the exam. We hope that the FIAS trainer certification program launched in Cyprus will attract more trainers who want to obtain a license in the near future.
