World Cup Stage — International Sambo Tournament of А category for prizes of  Aslambek Aslakhanov

The World Cup Stage – International Sambo Tournament of А category for prizes of Aslambek Aslakhanov, Merited Master of Sports of Russia, sixfold sambo world champion, finished yesterday on December 21 in Moscow. Aslambek Aslakhanov is a person who proves by his success in sambo that our martial art is a unique system of physical training, allowing reaching high results both in sports and in life and helping to keep in an ideal shape for many years.

The Tournament for prizes of Aslambek Aslakhanov took place in 2002 for the first time. From year to another year it took place in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Prague. The most number of participants – teams from 31 country of the world were gathered at the tournament in 2008, when 70th sambo anniversary was celebrated in Russia. In 2011 the competitions hosted sportsmen from 25 countries. Last year this figure amounted to 16. The year of 2013 gathered 119 participants from 15 countries of the world at the World Cup Stage, International Sambo Tournament of А category for prizes of Aslambek Aslakhanov.

According to results of the past World Cup Stage – International Sambo Tournament of А category for prizes of Aslambek Aslakhanov national teams from Romania, Moldova, Georgia and Kazakhstan should be mentioned along with teams from Russia (3 gold medals) and Belarus (4 gold medals), leaders of the world modern sambo.

The national team from Romania won 2 silver medals and a bronze medal. All medals were won by representatives of the fair sex for their country. On the contrary, Georgian sportsmen demonstrated their force in male sambo. Georgian athletes won 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and one bronze medal. Sportsmen from Kazakhstan also succeeded in male category, winning 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals. As for Moldavian team, female representatives like the Romanian ones won 2 gold medals in 60 and 68 kg weight categories.
