XII International Research and Practice Conference in the memory of Professor Evgeniy Mikhaylovich Chumakov "SAMBO WALKS THE PLANET"

XII International Research and Practice Conference "SAMBO WALKS THE PLANET" in the memory of Evgeniy Mikhaylovich Chumakov was held in Moscow (Russia) on February 16. Reference: Evgeniy Mikhaylovich Chumakov is a follower of Anatoly Kharlampiyev and a distinguished trainer who had trained nearly 60 champions and prize winners of the USSR. Such legends of SAMBO as Oleg Stepanov, Genrikh Shults, Ilya Tsipursky, Evgeny Gloriozov are among his students. Oleg Stepanov has become a bronze prize winner of the Olympic Games in 1964 in judo. Evgeniy Mikhaylovich Chumakov is praised not only as an outstanding practitioner, but also one of the greatest theoreticians of SAMBO. He is the author of the original methodology of training the SAMBO athlete, which is known as "Chumakov's Helix". He wrote over 200 handbooks and publications related to SAMBO. The most well-known among them are: "SAMBO" (1967), "One hundred lessons in SAMBO" (1977), "Physical training of a SAMBO athlete" (1980), "SAMBO: handbook" (1985). International Research and Practice Conference in the memory of this unique coach and a remarkable scientist has been held in Russia for twelfth time. The name of this year's conference - "SAMBO WALKS THE PLANET" - reflects the idea which concerns all SAMBO athletes in the world - international development of this sport. The International SAMBO Federation, All-Russian federation of SAMBO and Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism acted as organizers of the event. President of the European SAMBO Federation, Professor Sergey Eliseev and Executive Director of the International SAMBO Federation, Professor Sergey Tabakov opened the conference. The jury of the International Research and Practice Conference was headed this year by Sports Director of the International SAMBO Federation Dmitry Maksimov. 39 reports were included in the collection published based on the results of the conference. President of FIAS Vasily Shestakov, in his headed article, commented on the conference: "The Olympic heights which the FIAS must reach demand a full-fledged and serious work. This also includes the work in the educational research area, which this conference is dedicated to. I am sure that today's reports shall bring those ideas to SAMBO, which will help us develop SAMBO and reach the Olympic height which we strive for. As you know, every work is headed by real leaders, such people who open up new vistas for us. Evgeniy Mikhaylovich, the man whom this conference is dedicated to, is the perfect example. I am convinced that all the people who gathered here today are also ready to look beyond the horizon of the conventional and the obsolete. Those ideas which they will bring in their works will give SAMBO new strength to walk the planet". Young scientists, postgraduates, masters, applicants and students of high schools took part in the competitive part of the conference. Amongst the reporters there were people from different regions of Russia and specialists from Serbia. Based on the results of the competition, the first place was taken by A. Kondratyeva (Russia, Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism), who prepared a report on subject: "Influence of biological, personal and pedagogical factors on sport achievements of female wrestlers". S. Vlosak (Faculty of sports and physical education of the Novi Sad University, Serbia) took the second place with her report: "Influence of wrestling on anthropometric characteristic and motor capabilities of young sportsmen". The third place was taken by N. Ankudinov (Russia, Velikolukskaya State Academy of Physical Education), who presented his work "Methods of complex application of general and local means for recovery of physical capabilities". Executive Director of the International SAMBO Federation, Sergey Tabakov commented after the conference: "On the one hand, this event is a living memorial to Evgeniy Mikhaylovich, a tribute paid to his outstanding professional and personal qualities. On the other hand, such conferences are a basis of training of young scientists in the area of SAMBO, it is an important and solid ground for their professional communication. As of today, our goal is to increase the representation of foreign specialists in such events, which will certainly contribute to the worldwide development of SAMBO".
